Maria Miller was born in Silverspring, Maryland and lived overseas with her family since her father was in themilitary. One of the countries she lived in was Japan, where she gave herself the name 'Hasako'. Miller is of Filipino, Liberian, and Dutch descent, and she derives a lot her personal work's inspiration from issues surrounding race and reproduction. Miller attended Savannah College of Art and Design (2011) and The Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC (2013) to study advertising design and digital media. She currently lives in Northern Virginia and paints as an independent artist, as well as with Art Bloc DC.
