Elaine Chu grew up in San Francisco's Richmond District. She graduated from School of the Arts High School and went on to study painting and art history at the Maryland Institute College of Arts. After graduating she spent many years traveling and moving to Philadelphia, New Orleans and Missouri. During her experiences she met many artists and friends that have influenced, shaped and inspired her work today. Preferring to paint large scale she has worked with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and currently paints with Precita Eyes Muralists in San Francisco and co- founded Twin Walls Mural Company with her best friend and colleague Marina Perez-Wong based in San Francisco and Brooklyn. Working mainly large scale and with different communities all over San Francisco, she finds it challenging but rewarding to be able to bring a group of people to agree on one unified vision in a monumental scale. It is a gift to learn from others and listen to their stories, dreams and hopes to create something beautiful that everyone can enjoy.
