Flying Fish

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Flying Fish aims to expose – and bridge – the gap between Asian American women and Asian women living in America. The exhibition comes from the idea of being as happy as a fish and as free as a bird. It is cold and dark under water, making it sometimes difficult to see where we are going. A fish, however, can swim up with enough force to jump into the air. The 11 artists in this exhibit come from different regions and different personal backgrounds. Their unconventional combinations of East and West communicate the cross-cultural experience in new ways and showcase the progress and innovation made in contemporary Asian American female art.
