ABOUT THE PROGRAM

AAWAA works with an active pool of artists, writers, scholars and arts administrators to provide presentations about:

  • AAWAA’s mission, programs, and impact

  • Specific AAWAA programs like A PLACE OF HER OWN

  • Individual artists’ work and process

  • Administering or interning with an Asian American arts organization

  • Asian American women in the arts

  • Women’s issues

  • Asian American issues

AAWAA’s speakers are available for lectures, slide shows, and artist talks for the classroom, in a gallery setting, and at community events.

We have produced group and individual artist presentations, and issue-based panels at the de Young Museum link, SOMArts Cultural Center, Thoreau Center for Sustainability, Sanchez Art Center, Chinese Culture Center, the Chinese American Historical Society, Angel Island Immigration Station and other organizations.

AAWAA is regularly invited to speak during Asian American Studies, Women’s Studies, and Art History classes at San Francisco State University, UC Berkeley and other Bay Area universities. It has presented panels at the College Art Association since 2011 as an Affiliated Member Organization.
