 ABOUT THE EVENT

An annual event where AAWAA Artist Members and other invited AAPI women artists present their work in a rapid-fire format of 4 slides in 4 minutes as presenters give updates on their art projects. Co-presented by AAWAA and KOHO, this program creates networking opportunities between our artist community and special guests who include prominent educators, curators, gallerists, researchers, collectors and other art professionals.

Barnali Ghosh (Artist, Historian, and Founder of the Berkeley South Asian Radical History Walking Tour) Barnali Ghosh is a designer, artist, climate justice advocate, cofounder of Brown & Green, and curator of the award-winning Berkeley South Asian Radical History Walking Tour. Her work attempts to bridge homes and homelands, and create spaces for belonging.

Ghosh's latest project is a series of photographic self portraits that highlight the beauty of the flowers of Berkeley, her home, and the fabrics and dance of South Asia, her homeland. You can see her work on instagram @berkeleywali or at www.barnalighosh.art

Corey Madden (Executive Director of the Monterey Museum of Art) Corey Madden has balanced a creative practice with leadership roles over 35 years, including serving as Executive Director of the Kenan Institute for the Arts at UNC School of the Arts, Founder of L’Atelier Arts, Associate Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group and Producing Director of Performing for Los Angeles Youth. With mindful leadership expert Rob Kramer, Madden has developed an innovative creative leadership methodology to help artists translate their creative skills and mindset to take on new challenges and achieve greater impact. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Monterey Museum of Art.

Sharon Mizota (Art Critic and Archivist) Sharon Mizota is an art critic and archivist whose writing appears in the Los Angeles Times. In 2011-12 she reviewed all 69 official “Pacific Standard Time” exhibitions in the series “PST: A to Z.” She has also written for Artforum, X-TRA Contemporary Art Quarterly, ARTNews and other publications. She is a recipient of an Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant and a coauthor of the award-winning book, Fresh Talk/Daring Gazes: Conversations on Asian American Art.

Indra Mungal (Director of Educational Programs at the Asian Art Museum) Indra Mungal is highly experienced at developing and sustaining authentic community engagement for non-profit organizations; and has produced successful arts and cultural events, and educational programs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. She is passionate about working to ensure that Bay Area arts and cultural institutions thrive; and that they have positive impacts on their surrounding communities. Ms. Mungal has worked in the education departments at the Oakland Museum of California, and KQED (PBS station for the San Franciscso Bay Area), as well as many other smaller non-profits. She is currently the Senior Educator for Public Programs at the Asian Art Museum, where she produces public programs for adult audiences, focusing on underrepresented voices.
